Dementia is an umbrella term for a wide range of diseases that affect a person's ability to perform every day activities due to affects such as declining memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking skills. Abnormal brain changes can increase in severity affecting a person's ability to perform daily activities and live independently. A person's behaviour, feelings and relationships are also affected.
