Great ways to keep fit for seniors

We were contacted by a teacher who advised:

My name is Amanda and I am a teaching volunteer with Study Haven. I’m reaching out because our class found your resource www.affinityseniorcare.net/client-resources.html very useful. Currently, We are teaching the students about moral & social responsibility to our seniors and how we can keep seniors healthy mentally & physically. We wanted to say thank you for your additional resources!

As a part of the assignment one of my students, Jason, did some research in hoping for extra credit and found this senior resource page - www.medicalalertadvice.com/resources/sports-and-games-for-seniors-fun-and-exercise-in-one/

I was hoping you would be able to include the article he found on your website, even if only for a short time? I think your visitors will find it useful for senior fun & fitness. We are encouraging students to reach out more to internet sources to stay connected to others during these unprecedented times. Please let me know if you would be willing to add it so I can share the exciting news with Jason and the rest of his fellow students. I appreciate your help!

Amanda, we are in awe of what you are doing and Jason for finding a site with such great information.  We are going to share this with our community by also including this information in our newletter that we will distribute in Spring.  We are really moved that you are investing in valuing and supporting seniors!

Are you interested in joining one of our groups in the Brisbane North or Moreton Bay region:
  • Well-being group - this is a place where we can talk and share our ideas for keeping well.  We will have tea, coffee and a chat with guest speakers.
  • Grief and Loss - as surely as we live and breath we will experience grief and loss along with the tumult of potentially painful and conflicting emotions.  Our trained counsellor can help, as we believe no-one should feel isolated at this time.
  • Calling all OWLs - we believe that as people mature, they become Older, Wiser and are still Lively.  Join in with us and enjoy some company!
If you have an interest in something else, please let us know as we may be able to help you form connections.  You can call 0421 760 765 or send us a message by using our contact form.

No man is an island lyrics by Joan Baez

No man is an island,
No man stands alone,
Each man's joy is joy to me,
Each man's grief is my own.
We need one another,
So I will defend,
Each man as my brother,
Each man as my friend.
I saw the people gather,
I heard the music start,
The song that they were singing,
Is ringing in my heart.
No man is an island,
Way out in the blue,
We all look to the one above,
For our strength to renew.
When I help my brother,
Then I know that I,
Plant the seed of friendship,
That will never die.
